I'm wanting to add a Kalk RX to my system and am running into a snag.
TYPE: I'm going to order one from Scott at Aquatic Systems design. This is the size I'm thinking:
Chamber capacity 3 gal
Sugg. max evap. 6 gal/day
Base diameter 8.5"
Overall height 27"
Reaction chamber height 24"
Reaction chamber dia. 6"
Mixing pump MaxiJet 600
Media capacity 0.75 lbs
PROBLEM: My ATO container is a 10g AGA tank that has RODI water coming in via a float switch. When my ATO trips, I'm estimating about a gallon of water goes into the sump at a time, thanks to a MP1200 powerhead. I realize that this is WAY to much water to be sending through a Kalk RX and into the system at one time. So I'm on to another plan. I posted a question to see if the AC3 can control a pump by the "second." If it can, my plan would be to add a very small micro-jet pump to the Kalk RX and have it run for a couple seconds at a time. This water would be dumped into the sump and not the display. My other plan would be to use a dosing pump, which I would rather not have to spend another $100+ on one of those and have it malfunction.
So...I'm wondering if someone else is running into the same issue that I have. Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated!
