HELP - Nem stressed out after a move

Howdy all! Just moved my tank, and my RBTA has been in declining condition.

Moved the tank on 10/1. Drip acclimated the anemone over a period of 1-2 hours. It's been attached to the same rock that I moved it on, and hasn't moved around the tank (yet). It was at a depth of ~6", and is now much deeper ~18". Photoperiod was reduced using the "paper towel" method for 48 hours after the move.

Here's the nem on 10/2:

And today 10/3

SG: 1.025
Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate: 0
Copper: 0 (Feared that the tank had been poisoned by LFS water)
Alk: 10

Looks like it may have some kind of bacterial infection. Can you treat with antibiotics in a HT?

Worlds quickest HTR getting set up. Going to wait till the anti biotics get here tomorrow before I pull her off the rock.

I posted about this yesterday, this is what I think my BT has. Stringy mess coming out of the tips of the tentacles? Mine looks much improved today over yesterday but I'm going to get some Cipro on hand in case things go south again.

Yup. Mine appears to have gaping mouth this morning, but I'm going to wait until the antibiotics arrive before I confirm a pull and treat. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1412419936.766393.jpg

I think treatment is OK but I am not experience with treatment of BTA. If you want to treat I would use the same protocol as with Mag or Gig

HELP - Nem stressed out after a move

Treating now with Septra in a HT. So far, so good. Looks to be responding well!

tagging along for this ride. hope the treatment works out well for you. i don't trust other people's water any more. had a bad experience awhile back. i now make my own, and haven't had any issues. i also never add outside water to my tanks if i bring in new livestock. just not worth the risk.

i have a bunch of bta's. i have had a couple new recruits fade away, but have never seen one with the stringy tips. have you tried feeding it? maybe just a few mysis or a small piece of krill? feeding small pieces of food once or twice a week seemed to help some adjust that were having issues.

keep us posted. i have a bunch of cypro and septra, but i stocked it hoping that i will eventually find a blue or purple gig locally. haven't tried it on a bta.

She was well fed before the move, seems to be responding well to the Septra. Going to treat her for at least a week. I'll keep you posted, thanks for the well wishes and tagging along!

Do you think that perhaps she hadn't digested whatever you had fed before the move? It could be the source of infection..

Not sure about digestion, it had probably been a week since I fed her.

She's responding well to Septra.

I only ask because mine did this after I think I fed it too large of a piece of shrimp. It's the same shrimp that I have fed to the other BT, but maybe it wasn't fully settled in to its new home and didn't actually digest it. This was not the normal "waste" expel that you normally see. Glad to see yours is recovering well in the HT.
