Help, new Anemone

Purchased a few new items from my LFS Sunday, one being a long tip purple anemone, everything else is doing great but the anemone never attached to anything and now does not look to healthy and is under a rock.

Should I try to assist it or turn off the jets?
Is it long gone and should I remove it before it contaminates?

I placed the LFS back in the tank and poked 10 holes n it and let it sit for an hour until I released it into the tank, first had the jets on and it never settled down, so I turned jets off for 30 minutes and it still never settled down

I appologize for the cell phone pic's but the tank is at work and I dont have a camera today

I think a drip acclimation would've been better
you would probably need to post all your water params at this point.
They can look shrunk and shriveled pretty bad sometimes, I wouldn't take it out until it starts falling apart

good luck

I placed him upright and a rock on either side of him, hopefully he attaches

What should I do if he does not attach?

That looks like a tube anemone to me? Not an LTA... Although i've never seen one that color before... Anyone else?

ya looks like tube to me. Purple with white center. These will not attach to rocks. You have to burrow them in the sand I hope you have a high sandbed.

Good news

He seems to have attached to the rock given the chance

Does indeed have long purple outer tentacles with white inner tentacles with a purple dot on tip, has a tube body.

He attached to the rock, his body was that milky white color and still is however the part that attached into the rock is much darker

In the LFS he was attached to a rock and they had to pull him off, was concerned they damaged him, was odd his body was thru some milkcrate and then attached to a rock

Will get some better pic's so can verify the ID

Yea, but what kind of tube anemone? 8*)

That looks like an unhappy tube anemone. It really should be in the sand. I have read that they make their tube out of the sand. I hope your tank is a cooler tank. The purple tube anemones like to live in cooler waters not reef tank temps.
