Hi - thanks for your time!

I dropped the ac adaptor to my Osmolator top off system into my sump. :( Im going out of town tomorrow. Do you think the adapter is safe to use if its thoroughly dried out? Or do I have to scramble to find a replacement?

If it fell in saltwater, I would replace it, I don't see any way it would be safe to use or reliable. You could pick one up at any electronics store, it should be 12V (ours is 11V but that is hard to find), 1200+ mA (ours is 1600mA) and the tip is positive, 2.5 by 5mm. It is possible Amazon or Premium Aquatics could get you the replacement in time with next day delivery, both stock it and both are relatively close.

Thanks for the quick reply!

My system is pretty old - the adapter has the following specs printed on the back:

model M-800
Input 120v 60 hz 16w
Output 9-12v dv
Current: 800mA max

The current sounds different than what you included in your post.

Yes, that is an older model, those specs would be fine. That model is more likely to survive getting wet as it used a coil rather than a switching power supply. It may work, but the main risk is that the rectifier is damaged so it puts out AC instead of DC.

Roger - could you please give me the model number of the ac adapter I have? Please remember that I have the older model Osmolator.

They have always had the same model number, 5012.010, what you have is no longer available and it is best to stick to something identical to what you have as the new pumps will only work on an old osmolator at 9V. I would just get the equivalent at Radio Shack.
