HELP.... pH dropping like a rock

My AC3 is indicating that my pH is dropping like a rock.

It was 8.2 at 5am. it is down to 7.0

I have the CO2 turned off on the CA reactor

What could be causing this drop?

I have increased the stir rate on the Kalk, to no avail, it just drops.

Mix up some limewater in another container and measure the pH of that solution.

Do not do anything until you have verified that the probe is not faulty via a second test method!

i agree i think its the probe....

I'm thinking it's the probe too. When was the last time it's been calibrated? Do you have a pH test kit?

Normally, the PH does not drop a full point over 24hr. hmm..it must be the probe, maybe it's broken.

If you don't have calibration fluid, I have a packet of PH-7 and PH-10 that I can give. I have a AC-JR, if you want you can bring your probe by and plug it into my AC and test it in my sump. You'll know for sure if it's the probe. I'm in Cerritos.

It must be the probe... I ran home...fish are fine, corals are all looking spiffy
I have fluid somewhere, I will have to dig it up... damn messy garage.

I added a bit of kalk, probally not a good idea, but not that much.

I have to run out, be back later to check again.

thanks guys.

Bryan, I have calibration fluid, too, if I'm closer. And/or bring a sample of tank water and we can test it with my probe.

I recalibrated and I am reading 8.4, which is what I would expect to see after that panic dose of kalk.

I think everyone will be fine.

I plan a 15 gallon water change today and maybe a 20 on Sunday.

Fun things these tanks!
