Help picking camara

rogergolf66

im an addict lol
I know there r tons of options and it is over welming. Honestly with out help I don't know if I will ever pull the trigger. This is a camera I'm looking to used 95% for my tank. I'm not a photo guy and not looking to become one but I do love my tank and would love to come much closer to taking pic of my coral that look like what I see with my naked eye.

That being said I have always been a point and shoot guy so I have no camera experience, but I didn't know how to keep a fish tank either and lots or reading and trial and error now i have beautiful sps tank. I am willing to put time in and learn. Mainly looking to take close ups of coral I don't know if that would be considered macro shots or not. I don't know how far away they can be and still called macro shots.

I know u want a budget to help but well I'm just a normal guy so reasonable price. Not looking to drop a grand to take pic of coral. I know that u can easily drop 20k on camara equipment I'm not looking to do that.

Thanks for any help.

I guess I need to know what type of lens i would need for this? I know there r many models of macro lenses and what r a few models of cameras u would recommend? I would rather get something used so older model is ok with me.

What I have been looking for was a point and shot type that I could adjust focuse so i could get close up shots and get underwater cover for it but haven't found anything :)

Thanks

Roger

I am looking for a new camera also since my Fujifilm Finepix s700 flash has recently crapped out on me. I can recommend that or at least it's newer cousins as a good camera. I was happy with it for the several years that I had it. I liked the fact that it took 4 AA batteries , and bought rechargeable ones that worked really well. Good macros .
I will be tagging along to see what people may suggest.

Hey Roger I just bought a new fujifilm finepix s3280 for 98 bucks from walmart .It has 14 megapixels a 24 times optical zoom. Swung buy after work and found it in one of those locked glass cases below the display cameras . It was $179 marked down to $149 and when I took it to the register it was only 98 dollars. Not to mention I got a coupon for 100 free 4 X 6 prints. SWEEEEET !!!!!
Should hold me over so i can take my time and research all the different DSLR's. I will post some pics later.

This is my 3rd fujifilm finepix camera and have not been dissappointed yet. Seems if you get a slightly older model they may drop the price. I always ask for open box sales and clearance items. Make sure you take a good look in those locked glass storage shelves you might get lucky like me.
here are some pics still learning though.

How's this for $180?

Fujifilm FinePix S4250 Black 14MP Digital Camera w/ 24x Optical Zoom, 3" LCD Display, Image Stabilization

Kingfisher, what type of lighting do you have, interested in seeing if that camera works for Roger seeing that he has leds. I have a canon power shot sx30is and I always seem to get the "windex " look with my leds

All those shots were under t5's in my 55g. I will post shots from my other tank with LEDs if Roger does not mind. I feel like I am hijacking his thread.

Love to see'em the windex look is getting depressing for me that is, see my avatar...lol and $185 for a camera that works isn't bad

That is a very nice shot Rog. I know exactly what you mean. When ever I play with the manual setting I forget how I set it by the time that I view it on a PC. I can attach voice messages to my pics with this new camera.maybe that will help me.
Did you use a flash with that pic.

BTW! whe you left that breif post I really thought you ran out to get a camera, LOL.
