So I got this guy from the LFS. I was told he was a long tentacle. Placed him in my rock work about a week ago, he hasn't moved, but also hasn't set his foot yet. Foot is in great condition, so that really shouldn't be an issue. Wondering if anyone knows more about him(should he be in the sand?). Thanks!!! nem2.jpg

Could you share a full tank shot with us?

That appears to be an E. quadricolor, or BTA (but the photo isn't the best for identification). Can you take a few more photos?

Ok, turned the lights back on, this is the best I can do for now. If he hasn't set his foot tomorrow, I will pull him out of his hole for a better picture.

pics look like the nem is purple. not very good pics. hehe
if its a LTA like you said then they like deep sand and not rockwork to plant their foot. dig a hole in the sand beside your rocks to the glass. plant the foot and bury it in sand and it should attach.

Yes, from the second set of photos it IS M. doreensis or a LTA. It is a sand anemone that would prefer being buried up to the oral disk in the sand. He doesn't look like he has eaten anything recently - what and how frequently are you feeding him?

Ok, got some better pictures. Moved him to the sand(thanks LFS for telling me in the rocks). Have tried to feed him 2 times, doesn't really want to eat yet. Both times just held the food(mysis shrimp and a chunk of shrimp) with no real attempt to move it towards his mouth.

Place the anemone where the foot will be light protected and the oral disk can receive some light. Stop moving it or it won´t be healthy and fully open. If the anemone simply doesn´t move, that probably means it´s happy where it is.

Thanks Elder. That was the first time i moved him since getting him home. Opened up pretty good last night. Now my only real concer is him eating. Tried again to feed it tonight, took the shrimp, opened his mouth, but couldn't keep a good grip on the shrimp and kept losing it. Almost like he's not sticky enough to hold on. Turned the power heads off so it wouldn't blow away. Finally got him to wat a small piece.

Pretty small, under 2 cm. Started big and I kept breaking it up hoping he would hold it. I keep a bag of raw shrimp for my bubble tips in my other tank, they were very happy with his left overs.
