HELP!!! Purple/pink haddoni under attack by lemon peel

And to clear it up im not upset. I just dont appreciate it when people dont choose their words carefully. Especially when typing, things can be taken out of context. I also have a pet peeve about people using grammatical pauses like "Umm" when typing. It just seems to come off as arrogance.

Maybe just take a step back. She was only trying to help. If you do not find the information useful, then just ignore it. She almost certainly agrees with the advice that other experts already gave, so piling on is of little value. But adding something new is potentially valuable, if tangentially related to the issue you posed.

Why am I commenting here? I don't have anything particular to add about your anemone problem, but as a person who has answered tens of thousands of questions here at Reef Central, I feel it may be useful to point out that all of us do it for fun. If you make it not fun, folks will simply not help you.

Many people I answer questions for do not always know what questions to ask. I often have to point out that what they should really be focussing on is "X", and not the "Y" question that they posed. In your case, if it is a gigantea and not a haddoni, then if you solve this particular problem, you may want to take that information into the future as you decide how to care for it.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound arrogant or rude. To be honest it is difficult for me to type out my emotions. I just thought it would help if you knew what kind of anemone you have, if you decide to keep it. Like what they said..it could change the way you take care of your anemone. I didn't realise what I said would have been taken that way. I apologise..I should have typed more but I just wanted to be short and not go through a whole drawn out story. Wasn't your questions about taking the angel out already answered?
I see that you changed the picture..that looks like a healthier anemone in that one. Wow I didn't mean to start an arguement.
Forgiven?

Thanks, lesson learned..makes a mental note..do not use UM. :)

How is the anemone now?

I pretty much agree with the advice that has been given, even though I've never had any type of carpet. But.... kinda off topic, kinda not. I've always thought that 78 degrees was too cool. I know they're not the same, but I try to keep my tank with my BTA in it at or around 83 and would likely do the same for most carpets. The lower the temperature, the lower the metabolism of an anemone. With an anemone that is sick/injured/not doing well, even a temperature a few degrees too low could make the anemone not be able to recover.

I posed the question about temperatures on another forum, and the response I got was the "optimal" or best temperature for a BTA is 84. Every 2 degrees lower temperature, their metabolism slows by 10%. So, if you kept a BTA at 80 degrees, it is only metabolizing at 80% of what is should. I would assume that the same basic ideas apply to pretty much any anemone. So even 4 degrees could send an anemone over the edge and not let it recover.

I knew It was just a misunderstanding, I really wasn't too upset with anything that was said. Its just a stressful situation and I knew what I had to do but I was hoping for the long shot that there may be some alternative. I was checking my email at work constantly to see if there was someone that could give me some type of experimental advise. When I read your comment I was just frustrated and I apologies for my shortness as well. I do understand that some times an off the topic suggestion can be helpful. On a different note the anem looks 10 times better. The angel once placed in my anem tank decide to continue its behavior in its new found smorgusboard. I placed in back in the 75 mix tank and removed the carpet and placed it in a large Tupperware container with about an inch to 2 inches of substrate and sat it in my refuge. I placed an HQI over the fuge and it spread out almost immediately. His tentacles have definitely been damaged but in its current state im sure it will recover. Yes nervana fan I have the temp in the anem tank set between 83 - 84 but i have my 75 mix at around 81 - 82. so i have increased the temp in the 75 gal to 84.

Thank you. Its a 75 gal tank with a 55 gal sump and fuge. I have two 200 watt titanium heaters just in case. But i also have a 50 watt heater in there for when i change the temp. I turn the temp on the 50 watt up first. Once it gradually reaches the right temp I then turn the 2 200 watt heaters up to match.

It seems you favor the carpet over the lemon peel. If so, just get rid of the angel for now. He's shown his preferences in two tanks & is a problem.

Once the clown pair get established in the nem buy a new angel,
maybe one less problematic as a lemon peel............Or a fish that is not known to pick at nems. I think your wife would be agreeable to that if she can be involved in picking the new fish.

thats where the problem is. I do favor the carpet, but she favors the lemon peel. Im pretty sure its a battle I cant win.
