Help save my BTA

One of my green BTAs went walk-a-bout a few weeks ago. I was unable to find it in the tank and feared it had died somewhere in the rockwork.

To my suprise, I found it between the baffles in the sump! To get there it went through the teeth of the skimmer, through the over the rim overflow without flooding the joint, out through the bubble tower and over the first baffle.

It was completely blanched and shrunken when I put it back in the tank. It continued to wander around, never settling anywhere that I could feed it until it got sucked up against a Koralia 3.

I now have the BTA in a hospital tank. The tank only has moderate lighting and so far I have been unsuccessful in my feeding attempts (small pieces of krill and silverside).

I would welcome any suggestions on what to do next, I am worried I will find in dead before much longer.

Thanks in advance.

LEAVE IT ALONE IS THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO!DOnt worrie about feeding it at this point till it has fully recoverd from going to h*** and back!

feeding does help try smaller items like mysis there was a tread about gavage feeding nems try looking in the archives for it

It is likely not going to eat if it is injured. You need to figure out why it was moving and fix the problem. What are your water parameters and equipment?

I don't think it was water parameters as the other BTA is doing great. I added one initially that split and the 2 smaller ones went seperate directions. It stayed in one spot for about 4 weeks before it went wandering.

For what it's worth:

salinity 35
temp 81
Ca 425
DKH 10
mag 1350
pH 8.2
nitrate zero
phosphate zero

under 10K power compacts and actinics.

I will search for the gavage feeding thread, thanks.

No, sorry for the confusion. The pic is of the 1/2 that is doing well. That is why I don't think the 1 anemone going on a move was related to water quality.

So far the other one is still with us, although no appreciable change in appearance. It seems to be hiding in darker areas of the hospital tank.
