HELP - softies looking bad

Got a 4x2x2 mixed reef. A lot. Of lps, some sps and a few softies, kenya tree and a large toafstool. Both have beem really happy and growing well (toadstool has sprouted several new heads)

All of a sudden the toad has stopped extending polyps all together and now (a few days later) the Kenya has shrunk up nd looks terrible.

Got several fluffy mushrooms, mushrooms, ricordia etc and all the lps/sps are growing like mad and all happy. Doing weekly w/c's as usual. Params are all as normal although kh has gone from 9.3 to 14.1 in the last week or so.


Params:

Temp - 26.2'c
Sg - 1.026
Calcium - 620
Phosphate - 0
Mg - need a new test kit as its dead
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0.25
Nitrate - 0
PH - 8.2
ALK - 5.02


Lights are running as normal. Alao running phosban and carbon.

Softies like some nitrates and phosphates in the water as well do LPS, even some SPS like a little. So it seems that your water is "too clean" I keep my nitrates at <10 and phosphates <.025. You do not want to be 0 nitrates or 0 phosphates, I'm still wondering where that notion came from.

Your Kh is too low. Test your Mg. I'd bet it is on the low end considering your Ca is high.

If you make adjustments, make them slowly. There's a great thread somewhere around here.

Is your Kh at 5.02 or 14.1?

Oops sorry kh is 14.1. Why would this only effect soft corals though? The lps etc seem to be loving it. Best extension I've seen on the hammerheads and frogspawn.

How do i lower it? I assume dropping my dosing down? I only dose 3ml of tropic marin abc salts every other day. Dropped it to 2ml now.

I wouldn't try to adjust the chemistry of your tank because I don't know how reliable your test kits are. When in doubt, do a water change.

Well the test kit is showing 0.25. Can only hope they are fairly accurate.
