Help with 9410 Skimmer

I have a new Tunze 9410 skimmer, turned it on and all I get is water flow through it. I have it in my sump submerged about 10 inches, I believe the manual suggest 5.5 to 9.5 inches, would this be the problem or does it just need to break in. Would really appreciate any input on this.

It is submerged too deep and cannot take in air. Lower the water level an inch or so and it should start to take in air. Be sure the air hose is properly connected.

Elevated the Skimmer about 2 inches and connected the air line to intake on the pump and this thing went crazy with foam, had to tighten the clamp to get it under control, but it is working great so far. Thanks

On the 9410, the pump pulls a lot of air and you usually have to run it with the clamp to slightly choke down the air flow.
