Hey everyone I know nothing about these units but I am tired of driving to the store to purchase water. I am looking to buy one of these units but do not want to break my wallet as its already thin. I have searched and have seen so many different units it's overwhelming. I'd appreciate some feedback /suggestions. I may have to buy one on ebay or Craigslist as its all I can afford. I did see this unit on ebay I was hoping not to spend this much but If I have to oh well http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=110619193307&alt=web is the link. Is this an OK unit? Thanks for the help

My thoughts are that 50gpd is not very much ad you will be rejecting a lot of water due to the low flow 50gpd membrane. Higher flow membranes will give you more water with less waste. Also you can make water faster.

Some other things to consider after looking at the eBay add. Who makes the filters? Are they high quality membranes and filter sections? How do you buy a replacement part? How do you replace the DI resin? DI resin burns up very quickly and need to be replaced often.

Personally I'm using the BRS 150gpd water saver unit and I am very happy with it. When it comes time for filter replacements parts are easy to get and easy to replace.

I hope these thoughts help!

50 gpd is fine all pends on the size of the tank. Size of the tank to me is a big deciding factor on gpd. The unit is fine just make sure the replacement parts are available. To me all units are pretty much the similar.

I bought my first RO unit from that seller no complaints. But that DI is not re-fill able if I remember correctly. But it would be easy enough to convert the last canister to DI and then make the first two canisters sediment then carbon.

I'm a little suspicious of that unit. Two RO membranes and only 50gpd?

For a few bucks more (hey it's a reef tank, $30 is only a few bucks!) you could get the BRS value system. 75GPD and proven spare parts, upgradeable, refillable DI.

I have the next model up (Plus, with gauges) and love it. SR water is good quality, filter does a great job.

I bought the spectra pure refurbished model it's 90 gpd and I could not tell if it was brand new or not love it still putting out zero tds have not changed the filters in 2 years. I am adding a second membrane to help conserve water. I think I only paid 100 buck for it from spectra pure website

It only has one membrane. You probably mistaking that other component which is the DI filter which makes it a 5 stage. Keep in mind for the price it's a 5 stage.
