help with anemone please

does this anemone look healthy? It was in a tank I purchased and the guy called it a white carpet anemone, but I didn't think there was white carpets. Is it bleached or are there white carpets? It acclimated fine and is doing great so far. Thanks for any help.

Looks to me like a extremely bleached/unhealthy gigantea anemone imo. The most difficult to take care of host anemone ime. Requires high light, high flow, and near perfect water conditions. If you look on the first couple pages of this section with the name gigantea in the title it will give you the basic info on this anemone. Thats all i can say right now as im in a hurry. Other's will chime in im sure.

Thanks. I got it from a guy who couldn't take care of his tanks anymore and he said he'd had it for a year that color, and it had been a lot larger but was caught in his powerheads several times. My water quality is great, but is there anything special I should do since its in bad shape? It settled fine on L.R @ 8" below a 175w mh. Is that enough or should I move it to other tank with 400w?

Your situation sounds hopeful but the anemone looks like it has a long road to recovery. When they come in from shipping is when they are the most sensitive and you are most likely to lose it. because it has already lived in captivity for a year I think it will pull through.
Before you move it to another tank, what kind of lighting was it under before? going from 175 to 400 is quite a change and it may be too much for the anemone right now.
The first thing I would do is to try and get it to feed. Try shrimp or silversides or something like that. I would feed it several times a week until it gets more xooanthellae back.

it was under 400w, but he was under a large overhang almost in the shade at the bottom of the tank. He is at the top of my tank under the175. I just fed it a few minutes ago and it ate alot, so hopefully it'll make it.

I think if it eats a lot it will make it. You may need to mornitor it after you feed, if it really take the food. I would feed it a little once a day. See if it moves to a better place, if not and if you can, gently move the rock so it has high light, and indirect high flow.
