Help with aquascape/flow

I have a 220g Tank 72x24x30 and I am having a hard time getting a rock scape I really like. I have always just done the stack method however I want to create something nice with acrylic rods so I have a really stable and more unique looking aquascape. I just havnt ever done this before so I dont really know much about how to make it look nice. My other goal is to make lots and lots of room for sps placement. All my rock is BRS reef saver so maybe it would be a good idea for me to get some shelf rock or something to help with the aquascape? My challenge seems to be that because my tank is so tall its hard to get a structure tall enough without having really sharp walls. I also dont find many 220g standard sps tanks to model my scape off of. at least not ones I like.

This is what I did for my 40 Gallon breeder. It's very similar in basic shape to yours already, but a bit more open. I used fiberglass rods and DryLok Fast Plug to cement them together. The rock base foundation pieces are sawed flat on the bottoms so they rest right on the glass. I could have kept building higher and higher if I had the space.

I was trying to get ledges to go up around the rock like a spiral staircase. There are four main rock structures, each freestanding and stable on their own.

The key is to leave enough open spaces between rocks, so you have ledges, overhangs, tunnels, etc. so there are plenty of places for coral to be placed depending on their light and water flow requirements, as well as hiding places (that you can still see) and so water can circulate throughout the entire structure.

Do a search here for "aquascaping". There are lots of great examples, especially the Minimalistic Aquascaping thread.
