does anyone know why i would be having trouble starting up my G3,when i turn it on i hear the pump running but its not starting up,it has very little suction.

Have you cleaned out your air intake hose? I have to flush my out periodically with a syringe or take it loose and flush it out with warm water.

I had the same issue with one of mine but I didn't want to blow my skimmer so I changed out the impeller, problem solved.

would the motor burn up if i loose power and then the power comes bake on but the skimmer doesnt, i check the hose,

yeah but you have the aquarium empire so you can afford a 20 dollar impeller.
har har

and what electrical equipment i blow is between me and that equipment, not anyone else.

ok yall are not going to believe it, i just walked in there i thought what the heck I'll give it a blow, & what do you know i have a working skimmer, a hard to please skimmer never the less,LOLthanks for all the help, ive been fighting with this for days,

I use to put the air intake hose from the skimmer in the saltwater periodically to keep it free from calcium buildup from hardening in the hose connection, you can also put a little white virgin vinegar which will dissolve and clear it out.

she doesn't have a reef empire ... she like a few others i wont mention... "err cough Malisa" ... are just good at convincing their husbands that supporting their reefs are in their best interests:thumbsup:

I guess I need to take lessons from Malisa and Teena in convincing my husband that supporting my reefing habit is in his best interest. It has not worked thus far.

Maybe some of you would have a better time convincing your significant others of your views if you lavished the same kind of attention on them as you did on your protein skimmers.

That statement would come across better from someone that wasn't buying new equipment every time I turned around.

I hope you're playing it safe and sticking to UL approved equipment.

It's possible that if the impeller becomes stuck that the motor could over heat and cause the magnet to split and/ or the motor housing to become distorted.
