Help with my first clam (maxima).

As a x-mas gift to our selves, my wife and I picked up a 2.5ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚-3ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ Maxima. It is residing in our 30 gal Oceanic cube set up almost a year ago. The 30 Gal is an upgrade from a 16 gal bow which we had for about 2 years. Tank parameters are pretty stable for a while with Calc hovering between 390 and 410, Alk 8-9. Amonia, nitrates and nitrites all 0. We have a 250W MH pendant with Gisemann 13K bulb. To acclimate the clam I placed it on the bottom of the tank on about 2ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ of sand. Some questions I have: Should I place the clam on a piece of rock I start to slowly move up the rock work as it acclimates to the new tank and lightning? Considering its size how often should I feed it?

placing a small rock under it and slowly moving it up is the way to go. at about 3" and larger with the right lighting clams shouldn't need any intentional feeding

Excellent! Thanks for your help. When moving it up to the top of the rock how long should my clam stay in one spot before moving it further up?

You shouldnt have to move it up if you dont want to. 250MH on a 30 cube is a good amount of light and the clam will do fine. If you are going to move it, give it a week or more at the bottom to acclimate and then move it up a couple of inches. Keep in mind most LFS dont have the kind of lights that you have, so a slow acclimation would be less stressful.

And as mbbuna said, dont forget about attaching it wo a small flat rock, or you wont be able to move it at all.
