Help with New Mandarin!

Do you know or have successfully kept a sixline or similar wrasse with a Mandarin? Has anyone had luck with this or is it just a deadly recipe?

You would need a massive tank...

I had a similar problem with my six line wrasse harassing my mandarin to such an extent that i would not see the mandarin for weeks until the six line decided to carpet surf one night since then the mandarin is fatter and much more happier

Sorry for the ignorance but what do you mean by "Carpet Surf"... Dont know what it is but ur mandarin is happy and fat so, what happened?

Trust me, you need to remove one or the other. The 6-line will torment the mandarin until it either starves or dies from the abuse.

Ill trust you BrianD. I will remove the Mandarin and take it to my LFS in the next hour. When I setup the new tank Ill get rid of the sixline and give the mandarin a shot.

I guess sometimes u just hope for some miracle or something, but ur right I will take the Mandarin back to the LFS in the next hour while its still healthy. I will give the Mandarin a shot when the DT is setup and the wrasse is out.

My tank is 8x3x3, and I stupidly added a christmas wrasse that continually chased and bothered an existing mandarin. Luckily for the mandarin, the wrasse decided to see the world outside the tank and didn't survive the trip to the carpet.

You can be proud of considering the welfare of the fish first and foremost. When you set up your new tank, I would find a new home for the 6-line.

IME, sixlines or similar wrasses = dead mandarin unless you remove the wrasse. Good luck with your situation.

So the mandarín is gone . Everything is back to normal, I followed BrianDs advice and took the mandarin back to LFS. When I setup my new tank the sixline will have to find a new home. Even though I only had the mandarin for 2 days I fell in love with it, they are amazing!

So thanks everyone! Problem solved so the mandarin will come in the near future!
