Help with Sailfin, has white marks

My lovely Sailfin has some white marks on his sides, more so on one side than the other. First noticed them a few weeks ago, they seem to be getting worse. He has never been much for showing himself, after rebuilding the 72 is hiding more than ever.

I have had a temperature problem resulting in temperature swings at night - worst one was down to 73, 5 or 6 days down to 75. I finally managed to get the temperature stabilized between 77-78.5

any help identifying the marks would be greatly appreciated.

sorry for the crappy pictures, he doesn't come out much :(

they look like scrapes to me, maybe from hiding, my purple tang gets similar lookin stuff on him and they go away soon enough.

I'm hoping that's all it is. Doesn't look like ich, then again I've never had a fish with ich.

I wish I could get him to stop hiding!

Hard to say from the photos. The hiding is concerning. Is it eating, breathing easily?

he will eat, but only spectrum, and not as much as I would like him to eat. When fed he dashes out for food and goes back to hiding. Last night the breathing seemed a little bit on the heavy side.

The only other fish in that tank is two clowns, and a wrasse. The wrasse is a newer addition, however this problem started before he was added.

My best guess is scratches as well, especially if he's hiding in the rocks a lot. They usually heal pretty quickly, so keep an eye on them.

He doesn't look terribly thin, IMO. How old is the fish?

Not sure, I got him about a year and a half ago (roughly). He has always hid more than I would like, but not this much!

+1 on scratches does not look like ick. Might be becuse of the rebuild mybe he's not "used" to the rock work yet and is squeezing into place that are too tight?

I don't like the look of the spot on the pectoral fin or the tail from the photo but it's difficult to tell much.. Watch the breathing and feeding response.

looks like scratches, or over protective clowns ? . i'd keep up the water quality and watch and see. don' t know if you have a hosiptal tank ? not much you can do in tank. NLS is good . maybe have a plan b ready to go.

They look like stress marks to me... My Blonde Naso has them, they will go away. From what I have seen, it only last for about a week or two. Maybe it could be caused from the stress of the new addition of the fish.
