HELP! Yellow tang in bad shape

I have a yellow tank that has gotten really beat up by a purple tang. I think I can see several knife wounds. Is ther anything I can do to save him? I have had this guy for 3 years and I don't want to lose him.

Sounds like you will need to get one of the two out of the tank. Purples can be nasty and by adding the yellow after the purple you've got problems.

The purple went in after. I have had the yellow for years. I took the yellow out tonight. He was so beat up that I just scooped him up out of the top corner. Is ther something I can do to save him?

If you have another tank put him in there. Otherwise you may have to take him back to the store or see if a friend might nurse him back to health. A real bummer!

melafix is good for wounds, put him in qt and treat with melafix

That is what I was looking for, a treatment. Can I get this at any
LFS or Petsmart?

You can get Melafix at just about any LFS. Not only would I use that, but do lots of water changes as well. Fish respond to clean water extremely well and hopefully your fish will survive this attack.

Find the Purple a new home..They are beautiful but mean and the Yellow being of the same genus makes the aggression worse

Well the yellow didn't make it....I had him in QT but he was aparently too beat up.
I am bummed because I have had this fish for so long. Thanks for the help guys.
