Help, Help
Over the last few weeks I have noticed the flesh of all of my echos, brains, favia's, acans and the like seem to be withering away. Skeleton is showing thru. Nothing new has been added to my tank in 4 months.

What could cause this? My 400 watt MH are 8 months old. Could old light spectrum do this?

Ph 8.2-8.4
Calc 450
dkh 9.5-10.6
Salinity .026
Phosphates have been at .10-.15 for a few years now. Been treating with Rowa 24/7 seems like forever.
Carbon 24/7 in Phosban reactor
Large skimmer.

Very frustrated

2 months ago all my hard corals died.

Tank full of leathers and polyps. Also have a large patch of ever growing zenia that is thriving.

Help. Ideas?

You really need to test everything. It sounds like maybe it's copper or something not usually tested for.

It's definitely not your halide. I used a 1 year old pair of bulbs for another 8 months when my tank was starting out.

I hope you meant 1.026 for salinity...
The PO4 shouldn't do that, because mine is that high and I get just fine SPS and LPS growth.
It could be chemical issues if you've got mostly leathers and polyps and they're all doing fine, but you also have carbon for that. Maybe try a new batch of carbon?

I would say to quarantine those corals into another tank with new water if possible, water from a source other than your own.

good luck, I hope it all gets better..

I am not sure what Echos are, and assuming that .026 means 1.026 SG the parameters appear a little off but not killer off except for the phosphate. Anyway I think that the phosphates are way too high, normally you would want to keep them <.03ppm this would have definitely had something to do with your SPS's.
I would take the Rowa and Carbon reactors off line and start doing water changes every 5 days for the next few weeks, I would also look into Kalkwasser to help you with the phosphate problem.
Leather corals are also very territorial and tend to release growth inhibitors that usually affect SPS's more than anything else.
BTW, how often do you change the media in the 2 reactors?
I assume you are dosing a 2 part and do not have a calcium reactor?
