I did a 20% waterchange on my 75g yesterday. Came home today and my BTA has wilted down to almost nothing and my crocea is'nt opening all the way and the mantle looks like it is receeding. My params are nits 10, mag 1000, ca 640, KH 8, PH 8.2 and my phos is .02. The only thing that I added last night was Two Little Fishes Iron Concentrate with manganese. Can anyone tell me what is up and do I need to do another water change? Can't take pics, camera out of commission. Sorry!

hard to tell

is this the first water change form that batch of salt? - if it's a bad salt batch another WC may make it worse. you could mix up a bit and test it to see if there is a Ca/Mg/Alk issue

have you been adding the Iron or is this the first time?
why are you adding it?

the MG is low and Ca high but unless it took a big swing from the water change it may or may not be an issue

For now it wouldn't hurt to run some fresh carbon as you try to isolate what the problem is.

get a poly filter like 3 of them asap
how did you add the chemicals
did you mix your own water what was the salinity
what is the salinity now
if the anem stinks pull it

I have been adding iron and mag. This is just a different brand and is all in one. I have been adding iron because I was told it was good for the corals. The salt I have used before. It is a bag that I have been using. Although I did notice that I have alot of sediment with the IO I have been using forever. MG has always been low and I have been suppl to get it to where it needs to be. Ca usually runs between 500-600. I did mix my own as I always do. Sal is 1.023. I added the chem as directed. Maybe that was a big mistake!

fyi - manganese (Mn) is not magnesium (Mg) not even close on the periotic table. you may already know this but wanted to make sure the Mn with your Iron addition isn't fixing the low Mg.

I think high levels of manganese and iron can cause problems, I wouldn't add them unless you can test for them and they are low.

fresh carbon can't hurt, and hopefuly helps. if you can get those poly filters they take out other stuff that the carbon may miss.

If the nem is just shriveld up and not spitting it's guts out I suspect it's just reacting to a change and may recover fine.

Honestly when I purchased the iron I thought it was Iron w/MG and not MN. Just noticed it today. I'll be tossing that stuff!
