Maxima purchased Sunday. Has looked very good up until I got home from work today. Now the clam has receded into the shell with several holes? in the mantle. Picture is horrible but it's the best my phone could do.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Thanks to those that responded. I awoke this morning to find an emerald crab picking over the remains.

Sorry for your loss Wjwagner. Still might be a good idea to discuss your water parameters and tank inhabitants. That way any problems could be identified and it could help you (and others) avoid same situation later.

Water Parameters and Question

Water Parameters and Question

Here are the current water parameters:

Salinity - 1.026
Temperature 78-80
Calcium - 440
Alkalinity - 12.3 dKh
Magnesium - 1300
Nitrate - 0
Phosphate - 0
Silicate - 0

Lighting: TX5 - (2) ATI Blue+, GE 6500K, UVL Super Actinic, UVL Actinic White

After careful thought would it have been possible that my dwarf pygmy angel caused the clam's demise? I never gave it a thought but I had a beautiful open brain that was looking very good for over 3 months go by the wayside. I would think that the emerald crab was just being an opportunistic feeder but am open to ideas that may prove that wrong.

Yes, it's a possibility. Did you saw him picking on clam or other inverts in tank? Would recommend not adding more clams there unless Pygmy goes.
