Its my third day with my new GBTA and it was doing so well and all night last night it was okay and as soon as the lights turned on this morning it developed an open mouth and its shriveled it doesnt look like its okay, what could this be? Can i do anything to help it?
My parameters as far as ammonia nitrates nitrites are all 0ppm my pH does fluctuate between the normal range could that be it? Please help would really not like to lose the nem:sad1:

The actual tank setup is three months but the water used in the tank was from a one year old tank.. it was smaller so there is some new water but I used RO/DI and LFS salt water to fill in the gap.. It was a gamble the more I read online the clearer it was that new tanks have issues with them but I also have an H. malu that seems to be doing okay so I thought getting the GBTA would not be an issue

I mean I also have live rock from the old setup but it sums up to no more than 25% of the current rock.. so anything I can do to save the anemone? It did fine all of yesterday.. just wondering why it went into terrible condition when the lights went on this morning. Its still attached to the rock firmly its just the open mouth i am worried about. Should i turn down the flow to cause it less stress?

The anemone now bounced back mouth closed and is getting better.. this is the first time it happened can anyone tell me whats causing it or how to avoid such fluctuations?

they expel water and get it back. It's doing an internal water change. They do this when stressed or acclimating. Just hope your water is good enough for it to survive through.
