Helsinki Low Iron Reef - 910 liters

Thanks guys, appreciate it!

I don't believe I have shown any pictures of the completed cabinet so maybe it is time:

The cabinet is a piece of art!!!!
Really like it!
Also the last picture looks way too natural!Nice!

Glad you like the cabinet as I have never built anything on this scale before.

The reef ceramic wall is actually the least natural part of the set up but it is now virtually indistinguishable from the natural rock. The pumps and wavebox also functions well through the holes in the wall and I really like to have the tank without any pumps or other equipment visible. I occasionally have particles gathering at the surface on the left side of the tank but this is easily removed so not a big thing.

I totally agree. That cabinet is beautiful. And that aquascape is to die for.

Thanks Newbie, noticed that you are from Florida. The aluminum hammerhead on the cabinet was actually made from a guy in the Florida Keys. Would love to move back to there one day. Maybe for retirement :).

Have you visited Pennekamp? I was snorkling there as a kid in 1986 but I understand that most of the corals have died since then...

I'm not originally down here. My home town is in ohio. I medically retired. I was severely injured in Iraq in 2004 and the doctor suggested I either move to Arizona or Florida because of the severity of my injuries. Well Arizona was out of the question because at that time I didn't want to be around desert ever again so I landed here in Florida. I never been to the keys but it is on the bucket list.

I am sorry to hear about your injury. I would have chosen Florida as well and I hope you get a chance to go to the Keys later.

Take care,

Peter

Its perfectly ok. If it wasnt for reefing I dont know where my body or state of mind would be. I am happy and my tank keeps me sane. Keep up the great job on your build.

Hi Guys!

Hope you are all well.

It's been a long time since my last update so apologies for that. My tank is maturing nicely and apart from some new corals there has not been any major changes - or problems thankfully :). The growth is quite sufficient with the current setup and I do not see the need to upgrade with a third led lamp but that might come later when the growth has increased. I should replace my T5 tubes shortly however.
