Here it is at last, my new tank build thread!!!

Couldn't alot of the microbubbles just be air that was trapped in the lines? I bet much of that will cease in a few hours Clark.

You have a pretty good idea how you want your reefscape to look?

Howie

Will post some pics tonight of the system up and running tonight.

Everything is a go!!!!

Getting a correct temp is ****ing me off, as I have three guages and they are all giving me differant temps (same spot in sump before you say that)

Salinity is a bit low, but i plan to add the rock, raise the water level, let it evaporate away, and my salinity should be near perfect (its 1.022 now although I am going to test my gear tonight to calibrate

Skimmer is a monster, works great, just may need to replace pump (that sucker is loud)

Rock goes in tonight through the weekend

Okay I couldnt wait to get the rock in

I havent aquascaped yet but I wanted to get the cycle going if there is going to be one, so I went ahead and piled all the rock in the middle of the tank

I also have the skimmer going getting rid of any gunk the rock has one it still.

Here is the fuge (still need to light it) that my skimmer dumps into, the gravity drains into the sump

I will start aquascaping this weekend. I want to build a rack for my largest area of rock so I get flow in the middle of it, then stack the rock on top of it almost up to the overflow.

Going to go with a main valley down the middle of the tank with small valleys going off of it

More to come, thanks for reading!!!

I like the way the rock looks now! Nice work...it really looks great.

No there are some spectacular pieces in there and I want a valley with steep walls

If you think this looks good wait until i finish it

Looks Damn good Clark. Can I come see it tomorrow? I have seen the monster dry several times, but not yet with water...

Howie

Not sure of schedule yet as this is my birthday weekend. Saturday morning would work, getting the mahogony around the tank then. Say anytime from 9-11

Man you have busted your a$$ to get this thing ready. It looks awesome. The rockwork looks good but I agree with you, some deep valleys will totally rock!

The main thing with the aquascaping is to leave room for water to flow through...a lot of people spend so much time trying to get their rock structure to look a certain way, but it is the just the foundation for the corals to grow from. Eliminating dead spots is a good idea, but the rock is not what should be displayed long term, hopefully in five or ten years it will be all overgrown with coral.

Completely agree. I want good flow through the rock, going to put pvc skeleton in certain spots to hold up the rock to keep flow going

I know what I want in my mind, just need to make it in the tank

LOL I know the feeling. I just threw the rock in to let it settle in and start the cycle. I havent touched it to aquascape yet, going with a center valley that splits and small coves and gullies throughout.
