Here it is at last, my new tank build thread!!!

can the intake be ported like a set of heads on a chevy 350? Just a thought.
I was wondering how many people would pick up on that ! LOL
Nice thought though Jack .

The intake will have extra plastic on it, a dremel can open it up a little more and allow a smoother flow. Removing as little as an 1/8th of an inch would increase flow and the same can be done with all joints, it will create a better flow. Would it be easier than plopping down the credit card for a different pump...no...but it would also help with their poor design. Us old hot rodders know what porting a set of heads can do for performance, it can work here too. Extra castings in the intake section cause turbulence, smoothe the opening and the flow increases because you decrease the turbulence.

Intake is metal with threads on the inside so no way to bore it out

just think you could tell your freinds you are running a port and polished hamerhead. of course no one will understand you unless they are a gearhead.

they do port and polish small blocks so they will flow better

Can a newer intake cover be ordered? One with the larger intake? It could still be ported, not bored out, but it may not help a lot.

I know these bubbles are killing you, we just want to help. :-)

everything's looking great......if you can bore a metal engine, you can bore a metal pump...jk

edit: that situation with the geo is completely unacceptable....you need a discount or something...since it took 2 months to put together IM guessing an exchange is not something youre interested in

Took a break from the tank today. Looked over and saw my daughter watching snails going up the sides.

This is why I do it........

Nice!! Love to watch the kids and wife looking in the tank..

This is weird I have gotten 7 e-mails telling me that you have replied to this thread... I keep checking and nothing this time I decide I was going to post something saying I think RC is messed up.... Maybe it just knew you were going to :D

Another step forward ;)

As space is at a premium in the equipment room (might help if I was a bit smaller) I was at the junction of figuring out where to put the new calcium reactor. My original place isnt goiing to work because of my water storage, so I came up with the idea of utilizing the sump area.

The sump is huge, 4 ft x 4 ft, and the area above it has no use, so........ I decided to cut a piece of acylic the size of the base of the Geo reactor and attach it to the far corner of the sump with a piece of PVC being the brace. That was I can have the reactor near the sump (actually over it) and not lose any more room

Here is the piece just attached

Here is a few shots of the reactor on the new base with the co2 tank and ph monitor hooked up

Put a few monitors up on the wall with a little velcro

Tank is humming along, got the brown film everywhere with little sprigs of algae springing up.

More later

Nope, turned the pump down. Only thing I can think of is they say you can "slip" a 2" on the outside of the intake, but I would sure worry about that as there is no threads or barbs to hold it

Its a design flaw, I may change pumps and use this as a backup
