Here we go again

It sounds like O'fallon / St. Charles are getting it pretty good right now. I think my house in St. Charles is without power. Either that or Charter is down. We have vonage phone service and soon as I call the house it goes to straight to voicemail.

I guess I will run home at lunch to check on every thing.

its over for now in ofallon. I just talked to my aunt in St. Charles she has no power again. Someone just calling me from North county also near 270 in Hazelwood no power.

Here at MoBottom and 270, it was like something from a hurricane. Sustained 50 MPH winds with HUGE ammounts of rain blowing sideways. It was coming down the inside of all the doors and windows in the building.

I think I saw Jim Cantore fly by...

aw man, it just hit my town. Wife doesn't have cell service there but main line phone was ok. Power is out and I don't have backup. I'm still at work in STL. Not sure if I should try and head home or not, not sure what I can do once I get there.

More power was lost in Spanish Lake/Florissant.........what few people had power probably don't now.

That sucks Dave, it looks like it was picking up steam as it was headed right for you. Good luck, hope everything turns out ok.

Sounds like we might have some house damage too...still no power. I'm going to need to get out of here if my boss would stop putting work on my desk. :mad2:

grrr

grrr

out of town and out of power.

My girlfriend and parents re going to tke care of it. In a couple of hours they will be sitting up the generator for power t lest on the fns and pumps. I will try to get them to float some ice. In the meantime wht I should be worried about is temperture and wter circulation??? COrrect? pump or bubbler better for this. normlly i would think power would be back in no time but with st louis getting hit twice so fast im sure us illinois folks will be waiting longer thn usual

They called me nd were like what do we do, they kept telling me that the temp hs gone down ....I'm in Phoenix the high will be 115 today......ll i cn think about now is boiling tank.

i think the 2 main things you need to be worried about short term are
#1 temp
a close #2 water movement

Exactly they need oxygen and not-so-boiling temperatures.

I ran home at lunch and confirmed my power is out again. Normally it takes me 15-20 min to get home, it took an hour to get there, about 45 min to get back to work! My bosses won't let us go home either, hardly anyone here is getting anything done worrying about home and dmg, but they still won't let anyone go take care of their home's and family!!!!!! Very frustraiting to know there is nothing you can do, unless you want to loose your job ...

Well it hs ben confirmed. My fmily has a generator hooked up with only fans and pumps going. Temps were still below 80...very good....My house has shade and the AC was down way low..thank God.

Anyone herd n estimate on how long power could be out....someone i called bck in STL told me 3-5 days...will things live for 3-5 days under these conditions. I am going to need the genertor 24/7..maybe i cn stick it in the garage.....hmmmmm...i wish i ws at least in town..

I am going to pickup a power inverter on the way home. What size and what could I run with this thing. I assume it will not run a fridge. I have three tanks, could I get away with one powerhead in each tank and a fan on me so I can sleep?

Thanks

mjpelikan ran off an inverter for a while
he powered 3 powerheads and a 40w T5 light.
so you should be able to do 3 powerheads and a fan.
