Here we go!

After a great deal of reading and thinking I finally decided that a TBS "the package" was the way to go for my 30 gal tank. I filled out the online form for my order and had an email reply in just a few minutes. I didn't know that still happened in this day and age.

Now I am just waiting for Saturday hurry up and get here. Thanks Richard!

You'll find that Richard's customer service is the BEST, and you'll know you're working with someone who truly wants you to succeed and enjoy your tank!

It's a blast, enjoy!

Welcome DruidsLaughter ad enjoy the ride, Richard and the package are great you'll love it.

Just remember we here love pictures...

As soon as I figure out how I want to place the live rock I will be sure to post up. Every time I start to stack the rock up I feel like I created a gaping hole in the aquascape. I fear I am asthetically challenged.

The rock and sand are very nice. My largest rock is very colorful and teaming with life. Barnicles, feather dusters, many snails to be identified, a small crab too shy to identify, hermit also. I am hearing snapping too, so there may be a pistol shrimp hiding out.

It has been a couple days and the ammonia is approaching 1.0 ppm, so a water change will be in order this evening.

I will try an dpost up some pics soon.

I have a flat little orange critter perhaps 1/4 inch indiameter that suctioned its self to the glass. Do nudibranches hang out on the glass? Should they be removed when I find them?

Here are a couple of other shots. I liked the arch look but was just not stable. Other is how things currently are.

Its pretty crazy how much time I can spend looking. Was almost late for work this morning. On the bright side I found a little little shrimp. Rediscovered where the crab is hiding and and discovered a new hole that I can tell is inhabited.... but with what?????

Welcome Druid,

I'm the last person to be identifying anything but it almost looks like the bottom of an Urchin. Again others will probably be able to help better than I can.

Also welcome to the addiction. I have to say I spend way to much time in front of my tank. All the critters have their own personalities.

Have fun and it's only the beginning.

Re: a couple pics

Hope you don't mind....For the future right click on the image in your gallery and go to properties. Use the blahblahblah.jpg link between the IMG tags instead of the page link.

Aye, is it membranous (flat sheet of tissue) or does it have a low conical (cone shaped) shell on its top side?

It looks like tissue. I will have to do a bit of gentle prodding to tell for sure.

I finally found the shrimps hiding place. I am assuming it to be a pistol shrimp since there are so many pops being made. I have read that they don't do well without a partner goby. Can a goby be introduced to the tank and the two set up house keeping together? Everything I have read thus far is very high level summary stuff.

In my experience, the carribean/gulf pistols that hitchike in Richard's packages do just fine without a goby. I still have a couple popping away in my tank after 4 years w/o any shrimp gobies.

Your other visitor does sound like a flat worm or nudi of some kind. Most don't play well with others ;)

Thanks for the info.

I will check to see is my circular little friend has a shell. If not, out he goes. Only other critter I know I have to get out is a gorilla crab that stared me down this morning.

Now I just need to stay patient and let the tank cycle.

I would, and do, bow to Richard's advice. (He da man ;) )

I just spoke to my bandaid shaped buddy and he sends u his thanks, Richard. And my shrimp was out for a stroll and is definately a mantis. He was out in full view. Very cool to watch him scurrying about his rock. Fun start to the evening!

more discovery to come!

more discovery to come!

Druid, you will be discovering critters months down the road. I thought I had seen it all but yesterday I saw a spagetti worm stretching out its tentacles.
