Heteractis Magnifica

Hi there reefers!

I have an opportunity to purchase a 7cm (I think thats maybe 2-3") Heteractis Magnifica (magnificent sea anenome) specimen. Whilst this sounds like a no brainer cos they are absolutely stunning (green with purple tips and a bright pink/ purple foot) I'm not so sure that I know enough about anenome care in general to offer it a long term home. I have kept bubble tip anenomes with great success in a previous setup living in another part of Australia but have yet to reintroduce an anenome to my current system.

Does anyone out there keep this species either singly or as a host for thier clowns? I would be really interested to find out about what particle size they prefer for foods and also growth rates (if you google them the pics of advanced specimens are very large) These are wild caught and like us all we only want to offer the best homes for our pets!

lol I think I just answered my own question. (no experience + large eventual size= no purchase!) Sometimes when you write stuff down it helps you come to your own conclusion! I'll post anyway for the benefit of the forum.

Thanks all

A good place to start would be the Anemone and Clownfish FAQ at the top of the forum (sticky). Good luck!

Thanks that's an excellent FAQ. I am confident that now that I need to do a lot more reading before I offer an anemone a home.

thanks!
