hi, unfortunately i cant get a pic on here yet but i have bean given this snail and bit worried it is a predatory one. it is about an inc long has a long thin opening from the shell. it has a foot that it can push its self up with very rapidly and a long proboscis that it can push out. it has well developed eyes that look like they have something like an iris. its a dull gray brown and yellow inside of shell that looks like a comb pattern. im conserned as when i put my hand near it it shot its proboscis out and jumped up. i have seen it watching the fish very keenly too. i have seen nature programs with similar shaped foot and proboscis that eat fish and have a poisoned harpoon. the shell pa tern is not the same thow. ill see if i can post a pic of it

well developed eyes and hopping locomotion makes me believe you probably have a Strombus conch. if so, it's an excellent addition to the clean up crew, but will get to big for the tanks you list.

Rick's right, it will be a conch, but it might not necessarily get too big. There are a bunch of small Indo-Pacific species that don't get much larger than an inch long. If you can get a pic of it, I can tell you which one it is, and about how large it will get.

Cheers,

Don
