High light zoas

What zoanthids like higher light? I want to put some on my hob overflow, I've got 4 t5's with individual reflectors about 4" off the water.

All my zoas are high in my tank. I acclimated all of them and all are doing great and growing. My purple deaths are growing also but its more of a brownish purple so I need to acclimate them lower

Yeah that's what I mean I understand some zoas look better in certain light or they brown out like you're saying with your palys. Which ones do best ie look good and grow fastest in higher light?

Fastest growers would be my blue shimmers, jokers, and fire and ice.

Best looking would be vdm, nuclear blues, and aio

Cool that helps. Do all your fast growers look good too? No bleaching or browning out or anything? I think I read that eagle eyes are supposed to do well in high light but I could be wrong. Oh and what are blue shimmers I couldn't find a pic anywhere online.

My eagles eyes look great and grow average in high light. For the blue shimmers, look at zoafrag.com

My bumble bees grow quick too.

Also I mentioned aio but its aoi

My nuc greens thrive under high ight, and so do blue steels. Also my candy apple reds are popping and growing like crazy up high.

Oddly my fire and ice do better down low though

Purple hornets are growing out nicely in the middle and I'm running 6x54 wattt T5's

Yes nuclear greens thrive and looks good under high light in my tank. They're scattered around in between my blue shimmers.

JJ didn't see the blue shimmers on that site, you got any pics?

Double do your blue steels change color depending on the light? I've seen some pics where they look blue and green, and other where they are more blue and yellow.

I've got a few eagle eyes (think that's what they are) about 2/3s up now, haven't done much so far but I think they're still adjusting.

Mike.. type this in google "zoafrag blue shimmers". Click on the first link. Then look for "blue shimmers zoanthid" and click on link.

I have the link but not sure if I'm allowed to post in on here

PD'S for me, they like high lighting but they will fade in color and turn brownish.

Exactly. I had to lower mine. They turned brownish on me. How long do you think it'll take for them to turn purple again?

this has been an interesting topic for me. Not only have some of my zoos turned brown but other corals as well. All my water parameters are fine- Calc, Alk, Mg, Phos, pH. I am still planing on sending a sample to aquarium water testing service to check on some of the other element levels. However, my lighting are AI led system. I love the lighting. I have wondered if there is some spectrum of lighting missing in a LED system. Overall PAR values ARE comparable to most MH/t5s.
I had, however, never thought that I ran my lighting too long. Sunrise at 8:30 am for 1 hour sunset at 8:30pm for one hour. My LFS suggested I cut back on lighting. I think I will cut back lighting to come on at noon.
