Hippo tang Lateral line disease

Hey guys,

A coeworker of mine has a hippo tang in a 55g with lateral line dissease and is trying to get rid of it for many years. The tank mates include yellow tang that has dorsal fin rot, marone clown fish, goat fish, fairy wrase , hawk fish, condy anemone. Any ideas what might be the cause and how he can fix the problem

Lateral line disease is usually caused by poor nutrition, but in this case I think the small size of the tank, along with too many tankmates, is the problem. What are the water parameters?

A hippo should be in a larger tank than a 55, much less in a 55 with another tang and four other fish.

I'll ask him for the parameters. He did mention he doses kalkwasser and runs carbon filtration for his tank.
Would any medications help resolve the problem?
