I've had a bunch of these for a few years now. Pretty but cull them every now and then when there's too many. Definitely hide when you try and poke them. My daughter kept a couple alive in a glass bowl for two months until we went on vacations, wo very hardy. I caught those on the sand but most on the rock. I have one right now touching monti sertosa and doesn't seem to bother it. Seem to max out about size of a dime or less. Any ideas?

Does look quite a bit like the bullseye mushroom in the picture (maybe i should quit killing them), Rhodactis Inchoata. However, would a mushroom actively contract into a crevice when i poked him?

One other thing, they seem to grow individually, not in tight formation like mushrooms. They're also definitely motile as they wander.

SVXH6, You might be on to something with the mini carpet; a quote from a website: 'Stichodactyla tapetum These anemones mimic Ricordea'. If they're mini they're really mini though, about size of a zoa or maybe paly.

If they are roaming/wandering then they aren't a rhodactis mushroom.

need a better pic...

when i first got my mini it was the size of big zoa....in fact it hitched on a zoa colony i bought and i thought it was just a smokin cool looking zoa..

now it has split and is two beautiful carpets..both about 4" across

If its wondering, and retracts all thw way into rocks, my vote goes for a Mini carpet. They can get not as mini as youd think(as nanoreefwannabe stated). In which case I would try to harvest them and try to trade them or something!

Next time one wanders into the sand I'll take it out and get better pics. Until then, i really need time to figure out how to use my new camera because i keep getting worse pics every time i try. Thanks for the help everyone.
