As we no longer have a manned space flight program; that does sound safe. There are some for-profit space flight programs right around the corner, though.

Don't our astronauts now have to hitch a ride with the Russians? Just what every American child dreams of doing someday. :headwally:

Yeah, hitch a ride to the International Space Station with the Russians. I don't know what would kill me first: the crash or the humiliation. Seeing the Shuttle land was near the top of my bucket list, I got to cross it off before the program ended. The idea that the landing shuttle is really just a big un-powered glider amazes me.

MrTuskfish, I think what he is saying (and I think we discussed this before) is that you can have ich in a tank as my tank probably does. And not notice it, ever. When I say ever I mean at least 35 years as that is about how long it has been since I saw ich or any other paracite. There must be ich in my tank because I have not quarantined in that long and I add NSW along with creatures from the sea many times during the year. I also collect mud for the bacteria. I don't battle ich as it does not bother my fish some of which are 19 years old and still spawning. As a matter of fact all of my fish except a copperband and two gobies without mates are spawning including mandarins, clown gobies, blue stripe pipefish and cardinals. So is ich affecting my tank? Maybe, but for some reason it is not harming anything any more than ich in the sea harms anything. What it does, is keep their immune system in shape (like it does in the sea) so ich does not bother it. We as humans get shots of weakened viruses to help keep our immune system protect us. Of course there is more to it than that and I posted that numerous times, but ich does not always kill the tank as my tank can prove.
35 years with no ich symptoms seems long enough of a test to prove my theory but I hope to let the tank for another 8 years when it will be fifty.
But if you don't have my tank or my ideas, then you better quarantine.

Paul, just noticed that the way the quote system (that I still haven't figured out) seems to give me credit for the statement above your comments. For the record, the quote in post # 18 belongs to the OP. Trivial? Yeah, I guess. But plagiarism is something I'm just not comfortable with. But if the quote matched my opinion ......I guess I'd just ignore it.

When I was in my lab at school we had a book and a Marine Biologist wrote about how he did a study with tangs and the lights. His theory was that the lighting that we give the fish doesn't give them the vitamins like the actual sun does. Basically he had two tanks set up. This went on for 4 months I believe. He had a tank that was outdoor and got real sunlight then the inside tank was MH. Anyway, the fish were fed the same foods and some of the fish in the indoor tank ended up getting it. None of the ones that had real sunlight had this problem. I thought it was interesting, and he had some very valid points. Basically saying that even though the lights we use mimic the sun, it's still not the same!

I don't think we will ever really be able to pinpoint this or that as a real cause.
I can preach about how my purple tang got better by adding vita-chem and someone else can try to sell grounding probes or removing carbon ..Like the linked article states at the end, " being in captivity causes HLLE" Some dodge the bullet ,some don't .

I am sure I screwed that up and added the quote from the wrong place. Sorry about that.
I didn't want to make it seem that that was your quote, It was the OP and I was trying to explain to you what I thought he was trying to say. But, yes I screwed it up as I do often.
