HOB Filter motor stopped!:(

I have a small HOB filter on my SPS frag tank. I recenlty have been experiencing some problem with the pump stoppping. I took the pump apart and found that the impeller and the whole housing was caked with calcuim buildup. I soaked and scrubbed the impeller and housing in vinegar, but still cannot get the motor/impeller to fire back up. The impeller does not appear to be broken or chipped. What is the problem? Any tips?

You will laugh but its a skilter filter...LOL! The skimmer sucks but I was using it to run carbon and phosban in a sock.
