HOB filter stop working

I have a 2 month old HOB filter that Im using for a QT stop working on me. I tried a kabob stick and the impeller spin for a few second then stop. I can feel the motor is runnin though. Please help.

I used an Marineland dual biowheel filter on my 60g cube for over 20 years. When that would happen, I often found that sand had been sucked up into the intake. Once, it was a clown goby :-(

20 years? Holy stinky Batman. That's a very long time to own a HOB. I cleaned it out there was some sand but it's still not working properly. Impeller spins for a few sec then stopped altogether unless I prod it again with a stick.

Some hob just are not that nice and the salt water puts them through hell if completely cleaned and still acting up could be the motor its self would suggest getting a new one sorry man

Try cleaning it with pressure. A hose, water or put water in it and shake it around. What kind of filter?

HEck can't tell what brand it is. Just a typical black 20G HOB filter. Probably going to hose it down tomorrow.
