Dunno what happened to that thread, but...

They are awesome! I manage a work conference in Florida every spring and we use the same resort. I looked forward to their porta-bella mushroom sandwich every year....

I was devastated this past year when I ordered it and was told they no longer serve it!!!!

ggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Know of a good place in St Louis that has one????

I don't, off the top of my head. My husband just makes them himself on the grill, and they're awesome. He just marinates them and grills 'em. They're good on a bun or by themselves. You can make them in a frying pan, too, but they're not as good.

That's funny though - the first place I ever had one was Florida. It was served like a steak, and I thought it was one that they'd given me by mistake. (I was like 14... I didn't know a ton about steak, but it didn't seem like any mushroom!)

They grow'em big down there in Florida!!

It was awesome.

What does your husband marinade them in? Short time on the grill? low or medium heat?

Balsamic Vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice and sea salt. Remove black fins and peel outer tough layer and marinade for 10 min before grilling. Brush with olive oil while on grill to keep moist.

sounds like a pizza that my mom makes.

thin dough with those same ingrediants, then add mazzerella and parmeasean and tomates, dont forget garlic and basil

man those cheeses are a trip to spell....

Or, try the honey balsamic we put on chicken or fish:
Soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, garlic, olive oil, pepper, dab of honey.

Yum. Even my kids like it. Great on grilled things.
