Hole in back of my 9010

I recently converted my 9010 from in tank to a sump skimmer and there is water coming out of a hole in the back of the skimmer housing. The hole is right between to upper alignment pins for the magnet holder and i believe it's even with the water level mark thats on the front.

I never really noticed the hole before because in the tank it was covered my the magnet holder and under the water level, but it's getting a lot of attention now because the water coming out if it makes a fair amount of noise when it hits the water in the sump.

Am I missing something?

No, that hole is normal, in our skimmers water serves as the seal for the cup rather than the union or oring seal most skimmers use. At a certain height the water must exit or it will be forced into the cup.

ok fine, I just have to find a way to combat the resultant splashing and noise.

Also, how much will a set of suction cups cost as i cant find them?

A pack of four costs $2.50. If you position the skimmer so the water runs down the side of the sump that tends to be best, you could also raise the water level.

I'd like to get a set of 4 suction cups (3060.440), but I'm having a problem making a purchase on the Tunze site. I keep getting some sort of server error. And cant seem to find them locally. If you can offer any assistance with that, I'd be much obliged Mr. Vitgo sir :D

I was thinking of looking length of tubing that has a matching diameter and running it below the surface of the water level since noise is an issue. Raising the water level would mean loosing the free space the sump would need incase there is a flood from a pump failure.

I just realized, I have a block of filter sponge from a pump that I've never used. I stuck it between the sump wall and the skimmer housing. It fit like a glove and went instantly silent.

One problem down. Only 5 to go!
