I used to drop pellets in the sand after lights just so I could watch the worms race and fight for them. They would have tug of war contests with the mysis.
thats what the ocean looks like at night. Its a good thing, but as always just monitor. no need to do anything until there is a reason, and it is confirmed.
I suggest that you do what I did in the face of a similar infestation... Remove the LR one piece at a time, submerge it for several minutes in RO/DI. The bristleworms will come streaming out of the rock like rats leaving a sinking ship!
After you get done with the rock, use a fish net to "strain" bristles out of your sand bed.
The RO/DI might kill some good things in the rock, but if you return to saltwater after the dip and the bristles are killed, you should be okay. Your rock is worthless with the number of bristles you have in that small system...
and I hope you don't find one of these mixed in with your bristleworms...
I'd remove as much as possible, while some are good scavengers, to many could possible die if theres a sudden loss of food and that would be a problem.
