Oh My God! That is crazy!

Put some gloves on and scoop those suckers out after lights out!

Then, get a tupperware container, cut an "X" in it, fill it with some pantyhose, bait it, and pull them out in the morning.

OMG!

How much food are you putting into that nano? Holy crap!
 
My sixline wrasse LOVED bristleworms. Also, if you kill them (by just smashing them with a pencil), most shrimps/crabs will eat the dead remains.
 
Thats the thing, I only feed my two clowns 2-3 times a week and only flakes.

I do squirt oyster feast, iodine, and zooplex, and purple up in the tank. Not all at once. I do each twice a week.

I'm thinking I might have to break down my tank and let the LR dry out for a few weeks.

For God's sake why such a drastic measure? As you said, you don't see them during the day, only at lights out. They are no harm to your fish or corals and beneficial in scavenging (cleaning) your tank...so why kill?

Leave them be unless you have an adverse affect (which is highly unlikely). Most would be surprised to see the same in their tank but it's actually pretty common.

That's crazy! How old is that live rock/the tank set up? I would have thought from your pics that you were putting tons of food in your tank to get that many healthy/fat worms in your system like that.
 
From what I've read, the big ones can damage corals. I don't mind a few but my tank is over ran. The were everywhere, wrapped up in my pipe organ, candy cane and zenia.
 
Tank is probably a little more than three years old. Let it go for about a year and am trying to get it looking good again.
 
I don't understand how you have that many healthy/fat worms with your feeding pattern....again I would have thought overfeeding, but from what you said this doesn't seem to be the case. Something has to be sustaining these healthy populations.

From the pics you have a thick sandbed. Maybe they are thriving off the life in the bed???

a few bristle worms arnt bad,

iv got one paticular one that devours excess food , helps keep my bio load down, sorta

Zooplex and oyster feast would be plenty to feed those worms, they definitely love flakes as well.

I would switch to some rinse frozen food, if you have that many worms there is definitely a huge amount of nutrients being wasted.
 
I don't get it either. I told my wife not to touch this tank because she overfeeds the freshwater tank.

I told her that I could dump an entire can of food in the tank and the next morning it would all be gone because of the bristle worms. I know they keep my sand bed very clean.

I might try to get rid of a few. I think this might be to many and they could damage something. I've only had mushrooms in the tank for the last two years but now starting to stock it once again and I don't want to waste my money if they are going to be destroyed by the bristle worms.
 
Thanks Ludnix, I use the oyster feast for my galaxea, and candy cane. 1.2ml of oyster feast then suck up water with the rest of the syringe and squirt it into my power head.

He's only dosing those twice a week (but who knows how much?). From the look and health of the population of worms he has I would think something else is fueling them except Zooplex and Oyster Feast.
 
see if you can get a coral banded shrimp, put him in for a week and he will make a good dent in the population, Stay up late after lights out with a red flashlight and enjoy the show

You need to site the source on where you read that fire worms eat corals; it's the opposite. These poor critters get such a bad reputation when in fact they are very good for your ecosystem. Sign of a healthy tank actually.
