Honeymoon

My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon trip. We really want to snorkel and scuba and we want to stay in either the caribean or hawaii. Any suggestions? Also, we kind of wanted to do an all inclusive...any suggestions on good hotels/resorts?

hawaii. hands down.

it shouldn't even be allowed to compare the two in the same sentence. believe me, i've been to both several times and hawaii leaves the caribbean in the dust, so to speak.... in diving, beaches, and everything else!

you get what you pay for. if you want cheap all inclusive go to the caribbean. if you want real life paradise, go to hawaii.

i highly recommend the mauna kea beach hotel if you are on the big island. have fun and congratulations! :)

Mexico is nice.

My wife and i just got married down there this past May and we went scuba diving there and loved it. It was only to 30 feet but it was still awesome. It cost us a 100 each for 40 minutes and a trainer course. (neither one of us is certified)

Go to a Palace Resort (we stayed at Sun Palace).

If all you want to do is relax, drink, eat, and scuba...
Go to Little Cayman Beach Resort.
All inclusive, the diving is some of the best in the world, beats Hawaii hands down by a long shot.

It is in the middle of no where though, there are a few things to see on Little Cayman but not much.

Go to Little Cayman Beach Resort.

Went there several years ago. My wife, who admittedly likes to complain, had only one complaint....she couldn't find anything to complain about  If you like wall diving, Bloody Bay Wall is spectacular.

thanks. i think we are going to go to Little Cayman Island and stay at the Little Cayman island beach resort. Anyone familiar with this place?

Wife and I went there last April.
Great place, hotel is nice, rooms are keep clean, staff is wonderful. Food is out of this world, you can dive 3 times a day, swim, bike, hike, and still put on a few pounds.

The diving is even better, it is the best so far for us. The dive staff is also wonderful, they will give you the best breifing you will ever hear, and there very accurate. They will not let you dive tables, you MUST have a computer. If you don't they will make you rent one from there shop. I would suggest Nitrox for this much diving. 2 dives in the Morning first dive max 100 feet for 50 minutes, second dive max 60 feet for 60 minutes. Then you come back for lunch, after lunch you can go out for a third dive, 60 feet for 60 minutes. Its a lot of diving, most will suggest you take a day off mid week, just watch your self DCS is real.

Getting there and coming home is a bit of a PIA. Cayman airlines has funny baggage limits. There listed on there web site, I think it was 1 55 lbs checked bag and 1 15 lbs carryon, so pack LIGHT. You WILL need a passport.

You'll have to use Island Air for the final leg to Little Cayman's grass runway. They are nice folk, and you definitely want to be nice to them. When I was there, we also had an obnoxious guy staying there and leaving on the same day we did. He even gave the divemaster a hard time on the boat to the point he almost didn't get to dive. The topper was when we were all leaving the Island. Enough of us were leaving that 3 planes were needed (all small prop planes). When they were loading luggage, all of his luggage didn't fit on to the first plane with his family because of weight. He started giving the pilot a very hard time about how his luggage just had to get on the plane with him no matter what. Well, his luggage went on the last plane, and was the very last luggage to come off the conveyor ,long after the last of us retrieved our luggage. :D He got it in time to make his connection flight home, but they sure made him sweat it  So be nice and local people will treat you well ;)

Bill
They paved the runway last year, no more dirt.

The taxi field still doubles as the local soccer field, and you can still ride your bike on it, LOL.

Sorry to hear they paved the runway. When I was there last, they didn't have taxi's either.

They still don't have Taxi's, the Resort picks you up.
There is one fire truck and one police car, and one gas station, with one pump, one store. Actual come to think of it they have ONE of everything.

Ah, you meant the taxi field for the plane. I was wondering how there could be enough business for enough taxi's to have a taxi field

I went to Cozumel for my honeymoon. It seemed much more authentic than Cancun/Riviera. We absolutely loved the island and the people there. My only complaint was that the locals all had a thing for my wife. It got a little old with them continuously hitting on her while I was standing there, but anyway. I also stayed at a Palace Resort (Cozumel Palace) Very nice.
