Just an update on this topic.
IMO, I have proof conclusively that there are no significant allopathic interaction between some of the host anemones of these species:
H. malu
S. gigantea
S. haddon
H. magnifica
M. doreensis
I have these in my same system for prolong periord of times without problem. There are minor problem with a few of my anemones, but the problem is related to the smaller anemone been shaded and squeezed by larger anemones. Relocate the one that not doing well to another area of the tank solve the problem. I know that in the mind of some other reefers, what I show does not mean a whole lot.
IMO, when anemones doing poorly in our tank, and reefer concluded that it must be allopathic or chemical warfare is a take an easy way out.
About my system, I have a 320 gal DT with 40 gal refugium and a 100 gal sump. I do not run carbon, I do use a DSB in the DT and refugium and a cryptic filter (lots of rock in the dark in the sump)
Here are a few pictures of my anemones of different species toughing each other for months, some case years with out problem. Other than the pictures below, I have M doreensis, H. malu also in the system. Other nong host anemones included Borneman Anemone, and S. tapetum (the Maxi kind).
Gigantea touching Haddoni
Magnifica and Gigantea toughing all the time for months. Bother got fairly large without that much feeding
