I dont know of any way you can kinda force the anemone to host the clowns. Im in the same situation atm. I just got a bubble tip and they havent touched it for a month or so. Ive heard of peoples clown not hosting for a year I hope they jump in it sooner than that, maybe someone else has got some secret tricks to coaxing them into the anemone
If possible, provide the natural host anemone species. The fish will jump right in. If that's not possible, it could take a looooooong time. It took my CB Ocellaris well over a year to use my LTA's as a host.
it took my maroons all of 2 seconds to find their anemone, too bad they were jailbreaked from the fish breeder. They swam right in only to find two larg CB ocellaris already in the anemone.
I have a pair of Occ clowns that took to an anemone in less than 2 days (BTA).
I also have a pair of B&W Occ who have been in the same tank as 3 anemones for 7 months (2x BTA and 1x Malu). They have no interest in being hosted by any of the anemones.
It really is luck of the draw, some will take to it right away (Maroons are always fast to adopt an anemone) and some may never host.
