semifasciatus do trickle in from the northern Philippines... semicinctus is a Lord Howe endemic (the record from the Kermadec Islands is based on one specimen)... so we won't be seeing them anytime soon...

i have been thinking of starting

Yuri your South African coast has 13 documented species of angelfish... equal to the entire Atlantic Ocean and Eastern Pacific Ocean combined... go enjoy it!!! :bounce3:

i was on holiday in Mauritius
and I met with a legend
Mr. D Pelicier :spin3:
DSCF2444.jpg

he told me that only 16 debelius was ever sold by him

and that he thinks that apolemichthys guezei is at about 300m deep
he told me that he has made lots of dives in Reunion and Mauritius at 100m looking for it but never found it

Excellent Yuri and congratulations... Daniel is indeed a legend and has contributed so much to ichthyology with his collections on Mauritius... he has many fish named in his honor yet that special Centropyge he collects is not... it should be Centropyge pelicieri as Daniel was the true one to discover that fish... perhaps there was a language barrier when he gave you the numbers he's collected on the debelius... as it is much closer to 60 than 16... yet he's seen many more and only would ever collect the juveniles... the population density of that fish is somewhere else!

So Yuri share some more photos or stories... did you get in the water there?
