Houston we have a problem

I cleaned my powerheads and pumps. It seemed like the precip stuck on a lot of the algae and came right off. The filter socks seem like they are catching a lot of it

What were your actual alk numbers?

The tank was cloudy due to mass precipitation, which is why you have white crap all over everything.

What is your alk like now? did it drop significantly?

That is probably the most important thing. Just keep cleaning the filter sock as the water clears up.

Just got home from work. Alk is right at 7. Man my zoas have more color then I've ever seen. Hmmmmm maybe I'm on to something...jk. here's the tank now

Number one rule in reefing
Do every thing slowly

Rule number two
Do everything slower than you thought rule one meant.

Smiles here! Use that dosing calculator I posted and keep a long. I'm old school on dosing alkalinity. I dose baked baking sofa (because I always need a bump in ph) and mix it into a gallon of RO/DI water and drip into my sump overnight. Slow drip. I test for alkalinity twice a week, dose as needed and keep a log. Keeps my alkalinity around 8 dkh. Dose no more than 1dkh per day and your tank will be happy. I also use kalkwasser (pickling lime) in my ATO.

Most likely you will need to clean your pumps and heater of perception from calcium. Bath in vinegar works well.

Your calcium most likely will be low now. If your alkalinity is stable, dose calcium till your back at 450.

Good luck and go slow.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely dose slow now!

Yeah its called "LUCK". My stomach dropped reading this. Im glad your inhabitants made it through it. Go buy a lotto ticket today. REally glad your tank made it. Take it easy next time.

Happy reefing.

Glad everything looks okay, but when using the reef calculator remember to use your actual water volume. Your 125 isn't filled to the brim and you must also account for rock and sand displacement. Also most people's sump is filled 1/2 full at most.

I would start off with inputting 110 gallon in the calculator and making adjustments from there if needed.

Wow, your tank looks like the winters up here in Massachusetts. Glad everything turned out alright and that there were no livestock losses!
