I have a yellow coris and a green coris living happily together in my 90 rimless tank...im thinking about getting a 6 line. HOw much of a punk are they? Should i be concerned? Do they punk other fish beside wrasses

6 lines are a PITA...there is a very good chance that it will get aggressive...DON"T add one to your tank!

For a peaceful wrasse I have heard throught the pipeline (LFS) I may be wrong so dont sue me, they recommended to me the "Cryptic Wrasse" or Eightline Wrasse same benifits i.e. pest control but with milder aggression.

My 6 line hasn't hurt any fish I have including my lemon goby who is a third his size. He just hunts all the time. I have introduced 7 chromis and a tang into my tank since. No problems.

so far...

IMO...all lined wrasses can be a problem...(Not talking about Red Sea 8 line Flasher Wrasse)

Mine hasn't attacked any fish, but inverts are another story. Always picking on snails on the glass, it goes for the eyes and has eaten 2 very small skunk shrimps.

Yeah my quote button is not working... Anyways thanks for the insight I was considering a 8 line but maybe some more research is needed.

+1 Regarding sixlines its not a matter of if but when, they are evil nasty little fish and will more often than not go after other fish and inverts sooner or later. Never again.

A good needed clarification with aggression. Let’s be honest a tiny little thing isn’t going to "hurt" anything bigger than itself, however I believe there will be an always test of pecking order with an aggressive display. It’s more of a ***! Stop doing that sort of thing.

Purely my own opinion/experience

I had a six line once that killed a spotted mandarin the instant I added the mandarin to my tank. It was immediate. It was the first time I had ever seen him show any aggression.

Stories of their aggression are well documented. Not all exhibit these traits but from experience and talking to many other hobbiests they are a mean little fish with the ability to seriously harm other fish their size. I've kept three of them over the course of several years. Only one was what could be considered a good citizen. The other two were terrors. One killed a flasher wrasse larger than itself, and harassed a 5 inch fairy wrasse to the point of it not being able to eat. Another killed a sankey's dottyback. This was in a 120 gallon tank with lots of rock and hiding places. I won't own another. Additionally, if you ever need to remove one, be ready to dismantle your entire tank.

+1 do not add it. Mine wanted to kill my red head wrasse which is like 5 times his size. He is gone now :).

Yes, Ive had a several over the last 7 yrs and they have all been very aggressive. I had one kill a mystery wrasse in a 600g tank. I thought with enough room the MW could avoid the sixline... I was wrong.

My sixline of 4 years is peaceful with most fish, he did harass my Yasha Gobie to the point that he wouldn't come out to eat. Talk about two impossible fish to catch. They had previously been in a 24 gallon for over two years with no problem...I move them to a 50 gallon and his attitude changed. He doesn't bother anything else though including my cleanup crew. He is ALLWAYS pecking at things in the rockwork. So as a pest eater he's awesome.
The decision is yours but I don't regret putting mine in my tank.

I will never own another one. They are mean little boogers! I had one and it would pick on my 8" dog face puffer. I would strongly recommend not adding one to a tank!
