How aggressive are six line wrasse?

I had a six line wrasse in my 500 glln and thought it be ok to add my favorite wrasse I had worked tirelessly to acquire a 4 line wrasse. I figured the size of the tank would be big enough for both. I couldnt be more wrong as soon as I put him in it was hate at first sight. My 4 line only lasted 2 days cause I never saw it again. I tore down my aquascape after that to get him out. Never have kept another 6 line and cant find another 4 line either...

Wow. I have a six line, and have had no issues of aggression. My pseudo Chromis is the a**hole of the tank. I noticed in my buddies tank that his will show slight aggression but only when his yellow tang is bullying other fish

mine did me a favor and jumped into the overflow after months of trying to fish the jerk out. Dont think I will be getting another. In a tank of damsels, neon dottyback and maroon clowns, it was still the worst

Go with a Rainsford goby! They look like six-lines but are smaller and nicer, however I don't think they have the added pest control that wrasses have :/

after watching a sixline she wanted beat the crap out of a chromis at the fish store my wife decided she like the rainford's goby better :)

I've had mine for about 16 months now and he is quite large and hasn't shown any signs of aggression yet. Perhaps I am just lucky though.

I think it really depends on the fish, mine has been in my system for 5 years now, he gets a little pushy at times but with a Naso, Powder blue, Hippo & Purple tang who are longer lived residents along with a mystery he always seems to be put in his place, the only fish he ever bothers is the cleaner wrasse who has been in for 4 years but he gets right back after the sixline, even my spotted manderin pushes him around, so ya like all fish depends on the fish

He is speaking of mine. I love my 6 line. He never shows aggression toward anything, but my Yellow Tang and that's only when the Tang starts it. Then at times they swim together, I guess it's a love/hate relationship :)

My 6 line was a model citizen in my 90 gallon, living peacefully with smaller fish. When I moved I donated my fish to someone with a 300 gallon tank. The 6 line turned into a different fish and was initially a holy terror. Unable to catch it it was left in the tank where it settled down after about 3 months and resumed its peaceful ways.

Re the rainfords goby - I have kept two of these and also the hectors goby. I've found the hectors to be a less delicate fish and mine spend more time out in the open. My hectors sift sand, pick at algae and hunt pods.

WOW! This is first I've heard of this aggression in the sideline. I had mine for years in my 65gal with a Hippo tang, two Ocillaris clowns and a Royal gramma. Never bothered anything. EVER! I loved the way it kept to itself and just foraged throughout the rock. But, it was the last fish I added to the tank though.

Glad I stumbled upon this thread! I was planning on adding one very soon to my 34g cube.
