how are you supposed to tank apart tunze powerheads?

I've had the globe-shaped powerheads (6025, 6055, 6105, etc...) for years and I have always hated prying the two halves apart. I thought I had figured it out last month by prying the halves apart with a dime but I just tried that again and couldn't get it to work.

so whats the secret?

Squeeze and pull is the factory method, my method is to tap the seam of the two halves on the edge of a table, like cracking an egg. It usually works easily and squeeze and pull is fairly difficult on a used, slimy pump.
