How 'bout posting pics of everyone's custom stands

Having a deep tank is certainly a challenge with placing coral, but the reward is great. My family loves when we get new stuff because my daughter helps hand it to me from the ladder. I don't get into the tank very often because I have a large holding tank in my fish room, and when I acumulate 3-4 pieces worth throwing into the show tank, I place them all at once. I epoxy each piece into place.

I have not started a thread of this tank as I am fairly new to RC. It was definetly a lot of work setting this tank up. I gutted and remodled my house at the same time as installing the aquarium. Once I have the tank fully stocked, and my work slows down this year I will share the whole story here at RC.

This is my stand in progress. Just the steel skeleton. Wife loved this mess while I was working :D

The base is granite, and I hand built the canopy and doors above

Holy Crap!!! That is insane! What type of lighting are you using to be about to reach the bottom of that tank?

I have three 20 k XM 400 watt MHs
five 5 foot 140 watt actinic VHO tubes
and 5 coralife moon beams
I have considered replacing one of the 400 watt halides with a 1000 watt, but I think it would be to much. It really is not that big of a deal the bottom of the tank gets enough light. I only place mushrooms and softies at the bottom anyways.

When getting in the tank to do maintenence, do you have to get in REALLY slow so you don't displace water all over the floor?

Can't wait to see the build thread you start on this tank!

I certainly don't jump right in, but I have my overflow setup to handle about 60 gallons of extra water. The extra hieght of the tank above the baffle adds another 46 gallons of volume. Between that and my sump size, there is virtually no chance of the tank overflowing, If the the sump ever did overflow; it is located in a tiled fish room that has a drain under it. I will eventually do a build thread, but I want to first complete a journal that I started on this project. Right now all I have is a blank book, thousands of reciepts, notes, ideas, water tests, and pictures. I wanted to do something a little different. I have been trying to keep everything in a filing cabinet. My aim is determine a total cost of the setup, monthly costs and keep an ongoing tally in my journal of every dollar spent on this tank. Maybe one day if my kids will continue to enjoy this hobby, I will hand all of this knowledge over to them.

Sorry JMCCOWN, I didn't mean to send this thread so far off the mark. I would love to see more of everybodys custom stands and canopies

Joey, another person from Md. I live in Fruitland. Your tank looks great. do you get over to Dr Mac's Pacific East in Mardela Springs?

I have been out there a couple of times. Dr. Mac is definatly a cool guy with a nice buisness. Do you work for a builder in the area?

Wow I really like it. Getting ready to set up a 210 or 180 and the two tank idea is cool. I think I would make one into a fuge.

I went a little bit of a different way then most. Our house is modern so the stand had to fit in. No wood grain here. I'm sure it's not for everyone but I like it...

It's a 1.5" steel tubed stand. The MDF sheathing is held to the stand by rare earth magnets so each piece can be easily removed for complete access to the equipment below.

Brett, your setup is one of the most innovative and striking ones I have seen. Can you elaborate on how the ATS Eco-Wheel and surge tank work? Which company fabricated the background of your pier piling scene in one of your tanks? Some links would be nice.

I have been for quite some time thinking about a shipwreck setup just had a hard time locating any custom fabrication shops.
