How Do Grafted Monti Caps?

I had one at one point quite a few years ago that was red for months then suddently it started getting green in it. (See Pic) I would love to have one again however I am unsure how this is done. I was told at the time I started to notice it it was a bacterial infection causing it to have green in it. However I see a lot of "grafted" Montis and I would love to have another. It had died off a bit and after it started to come back it started getting the green in it.

Glue multiple small pieces on a plug and see if they fuse.

That's what I would try. Take 2 small frags and placed them side by side touching and see if they fuse together. hmm come to think of it, I might try that as I have an orange and a green monti cap.

I have tried this and they dont seem to graft, they look alright but not as good as a grafted plate.

I have no idea why, but my orange setosa has somehow picked up a true Golden pigment. I fragged a piece of the golden part and its maintaining it color. everyone that see's it in person in my frag tray asks what it is.

It only happens naturally in my experience. If you graft two pieces together it's not the same as the splotching and swirls.

Mine started like this when one coral killed and bleached an area of the cap.................green pigments than migrated into that area.

Through fragging and growth I created this---
